The following documents pertain to Luke Wenke’s incarceration at the Monroe County Jail in Rochester, New York, following his December 17, 2025 arrest in Salamanca. Obtained through New York’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), the records include Wenke’s identifying and custody information and his most recent mugshot.
The records also include an incident report detailing a May 1, 2026 altercation between Wenke and another inmate. According to the report, six corrections officers responded to Wenke’s cell after he was overheard yelling, “WHY ME?”
The report states that Wenke was taken to the hospital for treatment but does not specify the nature or severity of his injuries. A former fellow inmate of Wenke’s identified the assailant as Derrick Van Epps in a letter I received about the incident, and Wenke himself has identified Van Epps as his attacker in several of his most recent letters to the court.
I’ve also spoken with another former inmate who was detained at the Monroe County Jail when the assault took place, and his narrative was similar to the information provided in the other gentleman’s letter, but I have no way of “officially” confirming all the details.
According to the incident report, Wenke denied starting the altercation, although witness stated that he had previously made disrespectful comments about or toward the other inmate. Wenke ultimately pleaded guilty to fighting and received disciplinary restrictions. He claims in his letters that he’s pursuing assault charges against Van Epps, but I’m currently working to verify whether this is true.
Wenke remains held without bond amid his ongoing federal cyberstalking case.
