At the time, Wenke had just been released from the Cattaraugus County Jail on an ankle monitor while awaiting sentencing for a federal probation violation conviction. He was sent back to jail (this time to the Orleans County Jail) at the end of this brief several-day period due to ongoing concerns over his online behavior and complications with his court-mandated outpatient mental health treatment.
